The Scoop on Poop - #16 By Susan Bashor
Service - a word frequently used, but often without meaning. There is no question that all of us at Sweet Pea talk about service regularly and continue to find ways to improve our offerings to our customers. To us, great service is dependent on developing long-term relationships and repeat business. What does it mean to “serve you”, outside of a warm smile and a keen sense of which way poop flows? Reviewing 2003 alone here’s a little taste of what it takes all of us at Sweet Pea to serve you... ‒ Number of counties served? 6 ‒ Number of tires purchased? 56 ‒ Windshield replacements? 9 ‒ Tow bills? 12 ‒ Miles driven? Over 235,000 ‒ Number of oil changes? 49 ‒ Rolls of toilet paper used? 9,702 ‒ Number of late nights? 3,761 overtime hours ‒ Largest 2003 event? Missoula Air Show - 200 portable toilets!
And, above and beyond the normal “wear and tear”, we had our share of “didn’t need to go there” moments too... ‒ Number of cell phones dropped into septic tanks? 4 (and 1 in a hot tub). ‒ Number of employees who fell into a septic tank? Only one thank goodness. ‒ Number of readers I meet face to face who are shocked that I don’t look like my picture? ??? (Talk about putting myself out there for you guys!) ‒ Number of bogus workman comp claims from “seasonal employees”? 3 (Ouch)
I wonder what’s in store for 2004? Whatever you ask of us I suppose. Because whatever you ask of us, we provide, and that, is service. So although it takes a lot to be excellent, as you can see, we’re pretty close! My wish list is simple (fewer overtime hours of course) and would include: ‒ Not getting out of my house robe for the month of February. Getting out and meetiing more of our customers personally. ‒ Losing 10 pounds. Losing 10 pounds. ‒ Perfect employees. Learning to ride the bumps without raising my blood pressure. ‒ Reading a good book. Continuing to educate ourselves on all the latest technologies in the treatment of waste, sewer & drain cleaning and portable toilet offerings (yes, there is really an entire industry behind us). ‒ Retiring and writing books. Continuing to educate you on the “ins and outs” of poop (he, he). ‒ Continuing to improve on our line of t-shirts & hats. Stop by and check out our “Somebody’s Gotta Do It” collection - great gift ideas!
Thank you for letting us serve you in 2003. We look forward to burnin some rubber on your behalf in 2004! From all of us at Sweet Pea, Happy Holidays.
